Nifty prediction today : Indian equity markets are expected to open on a cautious note on Thursday amid mixed global signals, rising geopolitical tensions, and the monthly expiry of Nifty F&O contracts. The US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision and heightened Israel-Iran conflict are also expected to weigh on sentiment.

Gift Nifty indicates Negative Start

At around 7:30 AM, GIFT Nifty futures were down 22.5 points at 24,786.5, indicating a weak start for the Nifty50 and Sensex . GIFT Nifty, previously known as SGX Nifty, is a futures contract that reflects the performance of the Nifty 50 index, but is traded on the NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) in GIFT City, Gujarat.

It provides an early indication of market sentiment, particularly for Indian investors, by reflecting how global factors might influence the Indian stock market before the regular trading hours. Essentially, it acts as a pre-market indicator for the Nifty 50, helping investors gauge potential market movements.

Stock Market Closed in Red Zone

On Wednesday, the benchmark indices closed marginally lower after a volatile session. While gains in auto and private bank stocks offered some support, rising concerns over the Israel-Iran conflict kept investors on edge.

The BSE Sensex declined 138.64 points to close at 81,444.66, while the Nifty50 fell 41.35 points to end at 24,812.05, both slipping 0.17%.

Nifty Prediction Today By Expert

Tejas Shah of JM Financial Services told ET Now Swadesh that the Nifty is currently trading in a narrow range between 24,700 and 25,000 for the past three sessions. The broader support range is seen between 24,500 and 25,150.

Nifty Today Prediction Support And Resistance

"Importantly, Nifty closed near its 20-day exponential moving average. As long as 24,700 holds, the buyers will remain slightly positive, and we could see a move towards 25,000," Shah said. He added that post-FOMC volatility could result in a decisive move on either side.

Bank Nifty Today Prediction

On the Bank Nifty front, Shah highlighted a strong resistance near 56,100, where the index has been closing below for the past two to three sessions. “If this resistance is crossed, fresh buying momentum could take the Bank Nifty towards 57,000,” he said.

Immediate support lies at 55,500, and a breakdown below that could drag the index towards 55,100.
